Hydrotech Metal continues its collaboration in research and innovation with BRIN
Jakarta – PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia (HMI) signed an agreement with the Center for Advanced Materials Research, Nanotechnology and Materials Research Organization (ORNM) of BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency), regarding the recovery of metal sulfate on 27 March 2023 in Jakarta.
The signing was done by the President Director of PT Hydrotech Metal Indonesia, Widodo Sucipto, along with the Head of Center for Advanced Materials Research, ORNM, Wahyu Bambang Widayatno.
This signing represents the advancement of the MoU signed in December 2021 between HMI and BRIN, which focuses on conducting research and innovation in the field of mineral processing technology with the aim of enhancing the extraction of energy metals.
The Director of PT HMI, Widodo Sucipto, conveyed his optimism that the partnership would enable the utilization of the advanced technology developed by BRIN, while eliminating any non-profitable business procedures, thus leading to a significant reduction in overall costs.
“As citizens of our nation, we must be able to utilize all natural resources (metals) that Indonesia possesses, in a manner that maximizes the potential benefits for the Indonesian people” added Mr. Sucipto.
Also present at the event, the Head of the Mining Research Center of BRIN, Anggoro Tri Mursito, expressed his hope “that this collaboration will allow for further development of nickel extraction using STAL technology, which could produce new findings, inventions, and innovations, leading to intellectual property that could be licensed and commercialized.”
The event concluded with remarks from Surat Indrijarso, the Principal Expert Advisor on the Steering Council of BRIN, who highlighted the significance of patenting intellectual property rights that stem from researchers' work and downstream research outcomes which bring a positive impact that can benefit the public.
